Greetings!

Welcome to Dark Hope. This is a website designed and maintained by me to offer the inner workings of my mind and some of the things I do in my life to the world. Its target audience is to reach those who feel as if they are living in the dark and its purpose is to help them find the hope that is there for them in the darkness.

I do not believe that hope is light. I believe it is the source of the light. Essentially it is the lighthouse, not the light it sheds. Sometimes in life, we have ignored the lighthouse for so long, it takes a bit to get it relit and shining as brilliantly as it was designed to do so.

I am a United Methodist Pastor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have an educational background in both the sciences and the arts with a B.S. in Biology, a B.S. in Psychology, an M.A. in Counseling and I am working on an M.A. in Practical Theology. I believe that science and religion are complimentary and can serve to benefit one another especially when it comes to mental health.

Science is how. Religion is why. They are not trying to answer the same question despite that we as humans ask wrong. For instance, the sky is blue because of the way the light from the sun is reflected through the particles in the atmosphere and back from the surface of the earth. That’s how the sky is blue. Why is the sky blue? I don’t know. I’m not a god. But, it’s pretty cool and maybe God just likes cool things.

I see the Bible in an open ever-changing moving toward an unknown purpose way. I believe there are forces in this universe that drive but not control events. I call the strongest of those forces God as I have been taught. I believe that our faith, in the grander scheme of things leads to a more enjoyable existence in this life because the stronger my faith becomes in this force, the more I enjoy my life. I believe faith is action and change, not something that just happens in your head or words that you speak. It is something you live. It is not however, something you force upon others.

If you choose to walk this journey with me, I welcome your company. If you choose not to, that’s okay too. If you choose to walk with me, I encourage you to share your journey with me. Despite walking the same path, we will not perceive the same things. Together, we can see a much larger fuller picture of the world.

I invite you to walk with me in the darkness where hope is. There is no reason to fear the darkness. See with your soul rather than your eyes or your heart for they can be deceived by illusions. I encourage you to get to know Dark Hope.
