While sermons are a form of oral communication, I keep a written version of mine to help organize my thoughts, keep me on track, and explore new possibilities. It should be noted however that the text in front of me when I deliver a sermon is only a guideline. The actual sermon delivered can vary slightly or… not sound anything like the written document. But, if you are like me and appreciate the closed captioning option on tv, sometimes a written format can prove useful. Or, maybe you just like to read instead of listen. Or, you just like to keep your options open.
